Squire’s celebrates 85th Anniversary with stunning plant displays

Winning 85th Anniversary display at Squire’s Crawley, with Plant Manager Shaun Howell and Chairman Sarah Squire

Squire’s Garden Centres is celebrating their 85th Anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, their garden centres across Surrey, Sussex, Berkshire and Middlesex each designed an eye-catching display to celebrate this special anniversary.

Chairman Sarah Squire judged all the displays, then selected a winner and two runners up. The overall winner was Squire’s in Crawley, and the Runners Up were Squire’s in Badshot Lea and Chertsey.

Chairman Sarah Squire said;

“I would like to congratulate all of our centres for their very creative and inspiring plant displays to celebrate our 85th Anniversary. I loved the thought and teamwork that had gone into creating each display, and I hope that our customers will enjoy seeing the anniversary gardens at their local Squire’s.”

Of each individual garden centre Sarah Squire added;

Crawley “The plant quality that the team at Crawley showed off in their display, which sits either side of the information hut, was simply the best of a really great bunch. Alyssum creates a colourful 85 in a grass panel, which is trimmed with scissors as necessary, and the grass cut out is used on the seat.”

Badshot Lea “The team at Squire’s Badshot Lea produced a great display at the entrance to the garden centre. Brilliantly executed, the total clarity of this display made it a front runner.”

Chertsey “At Squire’s Chertsey, they built a wooden frame which was painstakingly planted up with Sempervivums, so imaginative, so on trend, so bijoux, small and perfectly formed – just like the garden centre.”

Wokingham, Frensham & Washington – “I was swept away on the wings of time at Wokingham, treated to a herb scented scene at Frensham, and enjoyed a Seaside Special at Washington.”

Stanmore & Cobham “The planting was so incredibly pretty at Stanmore and I was taken back in time at Cobham where you could pack up your troubles in a period suitcase and try an antique mower.”
