Sally’s Top Tips For The Festive Season Home Trends

Above: Christmas trends at Squire’s: ‘Classic Elegance’, with striking reds, pearls and golds, offers a nod to luxury art deco styling and includes Gisela Graham accessories.

Squire’s Garden Centres has become a much-loved destination for Christmas shopping – not just for gifts but also for the latest looks for the home with a wide selection of on-trend accessories for the festive season.  Christmas Expert, Sally Lomax, offers an insight into the very latest styles and ‘must-haves’ for Christmas ahead of the unveiling of Squire’s Christmas Shop on 10th October.

Sally comments: “’Scaping’ continues to be a trend that dominates – be this adding to a table, mantlepiece, windowsill or hall table. We know customers love to style their homes to reflect the season, and, as we transition from warming autumn colours, moving into Christmastime, we have some fantastic themes that will create a range of looks.  From early autumn, people are seeking to accessorise their homes – either in a big way or perhaps just a themed corner, giving a nod to the season and making the home just a little bit more special and adding interest, as we start to get ready for the darker days and evenings ahead.”

Sally is excited to share Squire’s decorating themes for the coming Christmas season. Woodland Banquet’ – a sophisticated feast for the eyes comprising sparkly silver, winter whites and greens in white mint, rosemary green and sage colourways. With lots of accessories to choose from, Sally says “’Woodland Banquet’ is a great theme to add a subtle but super-stylish look to the Christmas tree or layering a festive dinner table.”

Sally continues, “Another theme we are sure will be a hit is ‘Classic Elegance’ offering hues of striking reds – Christmas red, oxblood and dark mauve – pearls and golds, this trend is a nod to luxury art deco, reminiscent of a vintage train setting. I am sure this will bring lots of nostalgia for many and is perfect for selecting either one or two sentimental accessory pieces or for a stronger presence, creating a Christmas reminiscent of a bi-gone era.”

For a more modern season trend, Squire’s presents ‘Ski Lodge’ – with blues and golds, the trend cuts a clean look setting a modern, chic, yet cosy tone for the home.

And finally, Squire’s introduces the ‘Santa’s Workshop’ theme. Sally explains: “This colourway offers tradition with a sense of fun with bold reds and greens, cute character accessories – think cute gingerbread men, snowmen, penguins and elves! I am sure this will be a firm family favourite theme across the generations.”

Other Seasonal Trends

Squire’s has also identified some other notable trends for the festive season and included these in its product line-up this year. Slimline and smaller tree options feature, as customers look to complete the seasonal home with a tree to fill smaller spaces in the home, an apartment or perhaps the desire for a second tree for the bedroom, for example. The look of Christmas trees this season also sees  a move from ‘frosted’ styles with more realistic tree options available and some with ‘firefly’ style lights included, offering natural, ready-to-go options.

Seasonal lighting can be the icing on the cake, creating a bespoke look for the home and this season Squire’s has a fantastic range of decorative lighting including a firefly-style front door ‘welcome set’ as well as statement decorative lighting that can be used at other times of the year to brighten the home. Sally says: “This year we will have a fantastic range of decorative lighting to choose from including new neon lighting as well as sets for windows and mantlepieces and some decorative illuminated Christmas houses too.”

Buying Wisely – Shopper are Consciously Curating

Sally comments: “We are certainly seeing customers investing in a curated selection of quality accessories to decorate their seasonal home – items that will be enjoyed year after year. I think there is a real consciousness for buying selectively and wisely, so things that will be an investment as well as being well-loved.”

The festive season is a special place at Squire’s Garden Centres with the Christmas Shop a favourite for family visits at this time of year, offering a perfect start to the seasonal countdown in a relaxed atmosphere with a warm welcome from centre teams. No visit is complete without a stop at  one of the Squire’s 16 Café Bars for some seasonal refreshments, while all centres offer convenient, free parking.
