Although not as tall as the Allium Purple Sensation, the Giant Allium Christophii has large globes of small, star-shaped, pinkish-purple flowers that appear in summer and grow to 50cm in height. Prefers a well drained soil in a full sun position, these alliums flower from May to June. If leaving the bulbs in the ground for next year, this Allium must be protected from frost. Best planted September to November using a bulb planting compost to promote a strong root growth and plant development which will result in healthier bulbs and brighter flowers.
