Crocus Vanguard is one of the first and the largest flowering variety (Feb- March) to come into bloom each year. With a grey/ violet flower that provides a pivotal source of nectar for when any beneficial insect comes back out after being away for the winter. As crocuses are a small flower and so we recommend planting in groups of more than one as you’ll notice after each year the numbers will increase offering more food for any bees and butterflies. Plant bulbs from September to December 15-20cm deep and 10cm apart in fertile, well-drained soil, if planting in containers you can plant more closely simply by spacing the bulbs 1-2cm apart in a single layer, or 2-3cm apart if layering them for a showier impact.
